The second lady of the Republic of Ghana Mrs. Samira Bawumia has call on Ghanaians for a holistic approach and collaborative effort to fight sexual and gender base violence against women.
The second Lady Mrs. Samira Bawumia raised her concern and the way forward to fight violence against women during the inaugural ceremony of coalition of people against sexual gender base violence and harmful practices in Accra.
According to her, domestic violence has become a norm and prevalent in every society which is reducing productivity in the country because women play very important role in building the society and the country as a whole.
She therefore urged individuals and families not to keep silent but feel free to expose irresponsible men who are still violating women.
The coalition she said will serve as an advisory and advocacy body to support victims of domestic violence in the country, she then advised members of the coalition to be dedicated to their discharge of duties.
The renowned reggae dancehall artiste Samini was at the event as musical- ambassador to campaign against all forms of abuse against women.
He called on other musicians to contribute their quota to promote the well-being of womanhood.
